A Conversation for The Death of Australian Culture

While I agree with you to a certain extent, that financially and in a business sense we are very much become more Americanised, I don't think that most people consciously think about that most of the time. Sure, the kids buy the American clothing brands, listen to American bands, and have breakfast at McDonalds on Sundays, but you ask any kid if he'd rather be Australian or American - he'll look at you scornfully and respond that the f***ing Americans can stick it up their b*ms, they'd rather be Aussie any day. That's real culture - pride and patriotism, defying the overwhelming pressure from America, and retaining the old Aussie attitudes despite their material presence in our day-to-day lives.
