A Conversation for Savings and Pensions

Pensions

Post 1

Malcolm Perkins

Hello,

Before entrusting a company with your pension, please read the truth about how Zurich, formerly Allied Dunbar gave almost £94,000 of my pensions to a third party; without my knowledge, authority and signature.

After over 2 years of trying to get a sympathetic, or even an answer at all for long periods, this is an excerpt from the final reply from Zurich.

“In short, the company has done nothing wrong, and there is no valid claim against us.”

This is an excerpt from a letter from the Pensions Advisory Service to Zurich.

I would add that The Pensions Advisory Service (TPAS) is a conciliatory and advisory service, and we do not automatically take the side of complainants. I have to say however that it appears to me (based on the papers we currently hold) that Mr Perkins has one of the strongest cases (against an insurer, in their capacity as scheme managers and administrator) I have seen in my experience at TPAS (I have worked for the organisation since 1992).

To my mind, there is no question that a pension provider in this position should not transfer the proceeds of a policy, without the members written authority.

These are excerpts from the Zurich Pension web site.

“Peace of mind is precious and that's why it makes sense to plan for the future you want.”

“Whatever your needs, whether it's saving for your retirement or protecting your family's future, we can help. With the right advice, you can face the future with confidence.”

So why having invested my money with them, haven’t I still got a pension to retire on?

Please read my true story here.
