There's no edited entry on this subject, yet, death being one of the major issues of the world, I'm sure lots of people have at one point in their life wondered what will happen just before they die. And if they haven't already they surely will sometime.
If this entry would be edited it would be very easy for them to find the answer, leaving them with more time to spend on other points of interest before they actually die. This being a good thing editing this entry subsequently also must be!

Forgot to mention that I believe this entry covers the subject in a brief, understandable as well as accurate way!

"Isn't your whole life supposed to flash before your eyes before you die?"
"Yes. It's called living."
Terry Pratchett is a god!

Umm.
Aside from making my brain hurt... ... I think you should consider more fully covering the topic. As is, this is an entry about "will the last thing we see be our life flashing in front of our eyes?" which is a lot more narrow. It's also pretty controversial - you can fit an infinite recursion of the sort you describe quite easily - the flash of a flash will take less time than a flash, and the sum of the flash, flash of flash, flash of flash of flash... could happen in a finite time period. Just ask Hercules and the tortoise.
I wanna know about the other cool stuff - bright white lights - out of body experiences - pain - pleasure - all backed up by waffly scientists...

I think Hercules would be rather puzzled, as he was somewhere else at the time. If you asked Achilles, though, he might be able to fill you in on the subject.
Rather than speculating in a purely logical way, it is more interesting to ask people who have close to death what they saw. Studies have been done, for which I can alas give you no references, which show that there is a common theme to such near-death experiences. One thing that many people see is a sort of tunnel with a bright light at the other end. This might be a vision of the journey to heaven, or it might be a peculiarity of oxygen starvation of the visual cortex. Take your pick.
Conversation Moved

Editorial Note: This Conversation has been moved to the new 'Flea Market' Forum.
This is where we move any Peer Review, Writing Workshop or Alternative Writing Workshop Conversations where the original author has *not* posted to h2g2 for three months. This prevents the active Review Forums from clogging up with dormant entries, but in the Flea Market they can be picked up by others and polished off.
Key: Complain about this post
