I am rebeginning violin lessons after a year long hiatus. I am scared. My violin teacher is strict. Wish me luck!

good luck, you'l find the rewards outwiegh the costs, I've just restarted violin lessons after a two year gap. The violin is hoopy. but not as hoopy as the cello.

I've wanted to learn the cello and the viola for some time now, but have been restrained by the cost of renting one.

people who are more learned always tell me you cant learn the violin and the 'cello 'cus it's too hard, but I think the 'cello is really sexy and I love it. only one person plays it in my school, (a LOT smaller then your Americanish schools). we get given them to take home free to practise and you pay about £40 each month for the teacher and insurance for the instrument depending on it's cost

I wonder why someone would think it's too hard to learn the violin and the cello? I guess if they couldn't learn bass and treble clefs, but that's not that hard. Our schools often offered school instruments in the past, but at high schools that is rare. Most students have their own instruments once they've been playing that long.

I rekon the fact they are similar makes them more difficult. they give double basses, 'cello's, tubas and other big instruments beccause they are dead expensive. but most of the flautists and violinists have theire own. I bought one for only twenty quid and It turned out to realy be a good make! Do you own your own (violin)?

Yes. It is only student quality, but I love it. Last year I made some upgrades, I suppose would be the word, and now I have a lovely high quality bow and an electric pickup. It's really fun to play electric; I can turn it way up and really blow my eardrums away. Every time I play it electric my ears end up ringing for some time.
