Elysia Meadows Started conversation Jan 6, 2000
I changed my nickname today. It is now "Elysia Meadows". I am absolutely delighted by it for two reasons. One, it is similar to my own name. Two, it is a variant of "Elysian Fields". I think that's wicked cool. Today, other than that, was mostly uneventful. I was repulsed again by my fellow classmates. If there's one thing I hate more than shallow teenagers, it's shallow teenagers who denounce others for being shallow. And trust me, there is no small number of these people. Anyone with an anarchy patch on their backpack, for example, is probably one of these. At any rae, they sicken me and I hope that I will one day be secure enough not to feel I have to pander to them. Also, today I visited the library to return a few books. I realized one was missing. When I got home, I frantically searched for it, but the attempt was in vain. I fear that I loaned it to someone who then neglected to return it to me. I fear that this person was one of the shallow-denouncing shallow types. The idea of confronting them tomorrow sits heavily on my mind. Other than these two things, nothing really happened. I ate two Oreo cookies and watched MTV. That was about it. All right, so I ate four Oreos. I forgot about the other two. So shoot me. Oh, wait, I have a question. My pal Daniel wanted me to write a comic book. What would I have to do? Would I be good at it? So many weighty questions on young girls' minds these days!

There is as a matter of fact.. My name is Sorcha but a lot of people seem to have a problem pronouncing it, Being in a bit of a rush when I set up as researcher I didn't have time to think of something spicy so I went for sweet (which is always easier!) and picked one of my nicknames. I opted for what John T. calls me because I actually like it. Simple really!

Sorcha... That's really pretty! How is it pronounced? Could you spell it phoenetically for me?

sir(a)ka - simple really. (The extra a is because some people pronounce it, it is more correct but I usually just get people to say sirka it is easier). What is your name then?

My name is Elyse. Pronounced "eh leese", accent on second syllable. Some people seem to have difficulty with it, but I don't think it's that odd.

That's a very pretty name and quite unusual. You definitely made a good choice with your nom de plume!
