A Conversation for Henry Purcell (1659 - 1695)
A couple of points to think about
Walter of Colne Started conversation Oct 27, 2000
The article says Purcell was born in 1659 'the year Cromwell became Protector'. Oliver Cromwell became Lord Protector in 1653, and died in 1658 bequeathing the Protectorship to his son, Richard.
I also wondered if perhaps it might be worth mentioning the film of Purcell's life 'England my England' (1995?) with Simon Callow and Michael Ball. Going by the date of release, it may have been a tercentary project. Another film. which was on teev recently, was 'Restoration' and this too, from memory, touches on Purcell although he is not of course the central figure.
