Sitting here full of spaghetti and meatballs, listening to a tape of the KQRS MORNING SHOW (at http://www.kqrs.com ) and enjoying the cooling effects of a fan. It got a bit warm this afternoon.
We have had recent protests aimed at an Animal Genetics conference in downtown Minneapolis. I work just a few blocks from the site of the protests, and the conflict that the protesters had with the cops. The mood on Nicollet mall on Monday just before the conflict was definitely weird. There were helicopters hovering all over. The stereotypical "angry hornet" feel. The buses were shut down, and there were cops EVERYWHERE. Rather unnerving.
Found POV animation of the legendary Crystal Beach Cyclone coaster at http://icdweb.cc.purdue.edu/~mcveen/Coasters.htm. Many coaster buffs would willingly cut off a finger for a chance to ride the CBC. The coaster itself has been gone for decades (although parts of it live on in another coaster.)
If the animation is accurate, this coaster was a killer.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
