Post-holiday blues

Harry

Well, I had a marvellous holiday. Two weeks absorbing the the sights and sounds (and smells) of East Africa. The seemingly endless expanse of the Serengeti, the tranquil beauty of Lake Victoria, the dubious pleasure of hearing hyenas sniffing around the tent at night - all unforgettable experiences. And now I'm back, and everything seems a bit grey and uninspiring. The better the holiday, the worse the post-holiday blues, I suppose.

That sounds like a great trip. I'm not long returned from a holiday in China (various guide entries about it scattered around here somewhere) and have to agree with you - the better the holiday the harder it is to get back into humdrum workaday life afterwards smiley - sadface

I seem to have got back in the swing of things now, but I'm already planning my next holiday. I'd like to visit China one day (I'll go and look at some of those guide entries you've scattered about) but right now I'm still hooked on Africa. I'm thinking about going to Namibia this year, possibly travelling up from Cape Town and through to Zimbabwe. That should bring back my disdain for workaday life.

I am half planning to go to Lesotho this year...but that depends on a load of variables over which I have little or no control - so we'll have to see.

Harry, do investigate the possibility of a train from Cape Town to Lesotho - as a sort of side trip. You'll need to change trains in Marseilles (!) where there used to be nothing as far as the eye could see in any direction. Steam trains that seemed to stop at every blade of grass.smiley - star
