I believe I have a lot I can offer to this community and the Guide and my services would be put to best use in a more active role than just writing entries, such as the Scouts.

Hi, Cosmo! I notice that you're new here, and have also applied to be a sub-ed. Usually, it's best for people to spend some time getting their feet wet, and a good feel for how things work around here, before diving in and volunteering. And when people do sign on to volunteer, it's usually best to start with one position at a time.
If you think you'd be interested in being a scout, the best thing to do is spend some time hanging out in Peer Review, seeing how the scouts work, and leaving helpful feedback for the authors of different entries.
Let me know if you have any questions about h2g2!
Mikey

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
