A much neglected Beatles album.

And a much neglected Peer Review thread...

Sorry for not looking at this sooner. Queen have an album Queen at the Beeb, so this is an interesting comparison (and I didn't realise the Beatles' Beeb was released only in 1994...)

I think the last two paragraphs of the introduction could be merged together or something, as they say twice that the songs were not available on any other album.

The header 'Some Other Guy' - New - should New be deleted?

Choba B CCCP - should be CHOBA, I think, as a small H in Cyrillic is not h...

A lesser Elvis song - Lesser known?

I'm up to 'Memphis, Tennessee', but "time is an illusion; lunchtime doubly so."

smiley - ok

Thanks for the review!

You'll be pleased to know that I mention Queen at the end - you've got something to look forward to nowsmiley - winkeye

I've finally re-written the introduction to avoid the repetition, and also the introduction has been re-written so that any repetition is avoided.

The album is always referred to in English as 'Choba B CCCP' with the Choba in lowercase, so I'm just being consistent with Paul McCartney's spelling.

smiley - ok Good update to the introduction, thanks.

That's really a shame that Paul McCartney chose the album name but then transliterated it funny... smiley - grr I hope he calls it Choba and not snova, to make it funnier in a different way...

What does it mean that Paul finished writing I Wanna Be Your Man for the Rolling Stones? Did they start writing it?

When was She's a Woman put on Unplugged?

Are the Everly's the same as the Everly Brothers?

Did they use feedback in I Feel Fine on this album, or did they have to do something else?

Yay I found Queen's Live at the Beeb smiley - biggrin Queen Live at the BBC was the title for the American market, as Beeb is slang so maybe that had something to do with the choice of title in 1995...

Thanks for the thorough read-through - lots of good points that are keeping me on my toes. As soon as I can get by Captcha I'll update the entry.smiley - smiley

I'll tidy up the Rolling Stones mention, add a bit about his 'Unplugged' album and I have made a mental note to never write an article about 'Choba B CCCP'... smiley - canofworms That album was originally released only in the USSR in 1988 intended for Russian fans, who had risked Soviet disapproval to listen to the Beatles, overcoming great obstacles to get copies of Beatles records. Copies kept being bootlegged into the western world until in 1991 they finally decided to release it elsewhere.

Good point about the Queen album - though I still think that when they released it, the fact that the Beatles had had a highly successful number 1 album named 'Live at the BBC' that had sold well, including in America, influenced their decision.smiley - smiley

Thanks smiley - ok

I think it would be good for you to write about Choba - that is interesting, and you can include details of the title smiley - canofworms so that people can understand it (even if they don't agree with it smiley - grrsmiley - winkeye)

Yes, I agree - Queen released theirs in 1989 as Queen at the BBC in the USA, but they didn't necessarily need to re-release it everywhere as that in 1995, so it could well have been tactical smiley - ok

Gnomon - time to move on

Hi Bluebottle. Not much wrong with the content of this, just a few tweaks:

Jerry Lieber --> Jerry Leiber

Doreos Coley
-- Wikipedia has "Doris" rather than "Doreos"

Arthur "Big Boy" Cruddup -- Wikipedia has "Crudup" with one d.

the Jodimar's --> the Jodimars

as he always sung it --> as he always had sung it

The boys unsure how to end it -->
The boys were unsure how to end it

practicing --> practising

'Hey!-Hey!-Hey!-Hey! (Goin' Back to Birmingham'
-- close that bracket!

and demonstrates that Lee Peters -->
and demonstrate that Lee Peters

for example the track entitled 'Riding on a Bus' -->
for example in the track entitled 'Riding on a Bus'

Thanks for the thorough read-through, especially considering I know how these sort of entries aren't your favourite.
Straight-forward tweaks made - nothing I disagreed with or I felt raised any comment.
