This has been in The Post but I've been asked to tweak it to make it suiable for the EG. Here it is!

Who asked you to do a silly thing like that, then, eh?
I would perhaps mention in a footnote at least that Paul 'Wix' Wickens played keyboard for Paul McCartney. He composed the music for the Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy's radio series for the Tertiary, Quandary Phase and Quintessential Phases. See A32873899. He's played with Paul since 1989, including at the 2010 Isle of Wight Festival

That's a most excellent addition, thanks BB
I have added it to the text, much too good a nugget for a footnote and also linked to A73516188
I've also given you an additional researcher credit, which won't appear until the article goes live.

That's very kind of you - I'll have to ask you to do silly things more often...

A couple of other things:
Hoardes to be hoards
In the sentence 'Sir Elton grabbed Sir Cliff for a whirl-around, and some kissing was going on...' I think I might possibly have got the wrong impression...
You could also mention that when Will.i.am was joined on stage by Jessie J that at the time they were both judges on television programme Britain's Strictly Got the Pop Voice Factor (or something along those lines)?
You could perhaps mention the location more, where the stage was, what it had been built around?
Is it worth stressing that Her Majesty didn't throw any undergarments at Sir Tom Jones during the show?

hoardes--->hordes (I did spell-check this, so my spell-checker must be in error)
<> really? whatever gave you that idea? Actually the kissing was being done by Alfie Boe.
<>
<> no, I don't think I want to talk about the stage...
<> she missed his performance...and *nobody* threw their undergarments at him, I am sure he was most disappointed!

Very interesting indeed - I saw some of the concert but not all of it, and this Entry filled in the details nicely
"In the sentence 'Sir Elton grabbed Sir Cliff for a whirl-around, and some kissing was going on...' I think I might possibly have got the wrong impression..."
I read that sentence the same way as Bluebottle Very confusing, as I had heard that Sir Cliff wasn't keen on being whirled around by Sir Elton...
I think it would lead the reader into the concert more smoothly if "First up was Robbie Williams..." was the second paragraph and your first paragraph set the scene more - perhaps mention what time you needed the TV remote and maybe more about the location, or something.

Just for you SashaQ I have expanded the intro and I've even relented and written something about the stage for Bluebottle, just to be fair

GB, aside from being such a lovely entry for the Edited Guide, thank you for filling me in on what I had missed. I so wanted to watch the concert but was away with family who had other plans. I managed to watch a few bits only
I am so glad you included the D of E at the end, as he was very much missed.
Thanks again,

Thanks SashaQ, it does look a lot better, thanks for the positive feedback
You also noticed the Hitchhiker's references, I hope?
Websailor: You are most welcome! I am so sorry you missed most of the concert. There are clips on YouTube and the BBC News website, just use Jubilee Concert in the search box. As I watched it live, when I heard the crowd chanting Philip's name and saw the Queen's reaction, there's no way I couldn't have reported that. I've been a royal-watcher all my adult life, and I've never seen or heard anything like that. I had a lump in my throat, I have no idea how HM kept her composure.

Me too GB, always been fascinated, and I am a fan of the D of E as he was the founder of WWF, and I have always admired his self control and 'dry wit' in very difficult circumstances for a man like him.
Our Queen is one tough cookie, and so is her husband. They are an example to us all, and we are lucky to have them. Did you catch the programme about George V and Queen Mary. It seems the family has had many turbulent times, so let's hope this lull lasts for a few years.
I will chase the BBC and YouTube clips when I get a minute. I was hoping they would release a DVD of the full concert.

Hope so. I am trying not to collect stuff any more as I am a bit of a hoarder, but I will make an exception in this case

Great opening quote!
One thing I'd mention is that you've listed surnames for practically everyone except Cheryl (and Sir Cliff, but after his decades in show business there's only one Sir Cliff). I'd mention her surname too so people know who she is, as chances are there'll be another singer named Cheryl in a year or two, and readers in the future won't know which Cheryl is being mentioned. It's probably a dreadful thing for me to say, but I don't think that she's that memorable a singer for a Christian name to be sufficient.

You and me both but she seems to think she's worthy of a single name. I agree though, so I'll add her surname
