Numbers of Dead

Post 1

Bran the Explorer

Good Entry, and glad to see some Romano-British history on the site

I was wondering about the estimates of the numbers killed. I assume that this comes from Tacitus (?). Would there have been that many Romans (or even Romanised Britons) in the territory at the time so that such a large number could have been bumped off? The invasion army of 43AD was about 40,000 I understand ... but to kill 70,000 people in 60AD seems a lot. What do you reckon?

Cheers
Bran.
