http://www.h2g2.com/A393022... I would like to recommend this guide entry for circulation among you noble and just Peer Reviewers. In this entry on Drums, you will learn about the instrument's many incarnations, pick up a few crudely constructed jokes about drummers to recite at your next cocktail party, and find a very brief look at famous drummers. Enjoy!! and THANK YOU!!!

Being a drummer, it's nice to finally see an article on my favourite stick-related passtime!
Here're a few comments to muse over:
I don't think the editors will allow links to non-appoved entries such as my Foo Fighters article (nice of you though it was to link to it, to be honest the article is tosh and was just an experiment - I never submitted it).
I think it's "cymbal" rather than the symbolic sort...
How about a mention of the drums as the 'rhythm' section of bands - along with the bass player?
And finally, what about the most popular makes of drums? Personally, I play a Heavy Rock size Pearl Export - my pride and joy!
Good article - I like to see drummers getting some recognition instead of those damn computer drum machines...

YAY!!! thank you for your viewpoints, Foo Fighters author...Beat boxes must DIE!!!!
I love the rythm section idea, as well as the bass player. The article, admittedly, is just growing, but has imporved a great deal since its progenitor. I will add your suggestions, and pray that PTB will forgive my linking...

It is good, maybe a bit more on the different kinds of drums. The celtic flat drum was originally used during funerals (I think, I will have to check this and is called a bhodran, you mention it but not by name
Maybe a bit on tips on where to practise etc. But as I said it is good
I liked it
Well, until later....

thanks... I don't know what's happening with it right now... I can't edit it anymore(because the link is gone), and yet... Heh... I'm still the only researcher...

The link is still there; you just need to click on the "view older guide entries" link on your page. It's third from last on the third listing page of entries.
It also says "recommended" next to it, which means it's already in the pipe for Editing. Did you submit it under the old queue system? If so, then this PR thread is probably unnecessary; the entry will get Edited all in good time.

It's been edited for maybe as much as two months now... and I know where to find it under my older guide entries, but, you see.. that magic link that says "edit" next to it has been missing for a couple of weeks... OOOOoo...
Thanks again, though!!!

Hey, ya can't forget to put Slingerland in the list of drum makers, well, because my set's a Slingerland, that's why!
Very good article though, except for that omission... hehe..

yeap, that's the one... Slingerland made stuff out of somewhere in Illinois back in the 60's and 70's, if I'm not mistaken, then moved to Europe somewhere, then just came back to the US in the past few years. I think. Don't quote me on that. I do know that USUSALLY when you see a set with an independent 'rack' holding up the toms(instead of mounting them directly onto the bass drum) it's probably a Slingerland... pretty sure all their new sets are like that.

I either was or still am the editor on this one -- I can't remember where this one is in the process, although I remember proofreading it and changing some of the GuideML. Unfortunately, I'm at work right now and I leave that part of my brain at home (my cats have to have *something* to mock while I'm gone....). Anyways, when I get home I'll check up on it and let you know what the status is.

OK, I found the entry in my files, and here is a "summup" of what's happened to it:
Based on content, I wanted to approve the entry. While I was able to fix most of the typos and spelling/grammar problems, there were several instances in which I couldn't correct the problem because I couldn't figure out what you had intended to write (i.e., there were typos here and there where I had no clue what the word was intended to be).
So, I fixed up what I could, and sent it on to the powers that be. These said powers had the choices of 1) rejecting it and sending it back to you, or 2) trying to fix the problems themselves. As the entry is reading as "recommended" on your page, I would assume that means that they are fixing it and getting it ready for the guide.
Therefore, any substantive comments about this article should be posted on the page of the article itself, as that is where the powers will look for any info that needs to be added or changed in the final iteration. Since the article has already gone through the old editorial process, it doesn't need to be peer reviewed.
Hope this helps some!

One or two comments on your Drums article:
The correct spelling of the celtic flat drum is Bodhrán (with an accented a) but Bodhran is acceptable. Not Bhodran.
Timpani means a set of kettledrums so you can't say Timpanies. You never have one of them. You imply that only the bigger orchestras have them, but in fact, the timpani are the most common form of drum in the orchestra and often the only drums.
When talking about the snare drum, you might mention the snare which gives it its name. This is a sort of metal rattle which is stretched across the drumhead inside the drum.
Some orchestral stuff relating to drums:
Two of Nielsen's symphonies have insteresting drum parts: The 4th features a battle between two sets of timpani in D major and the rest of the orchestra in E major. For dramatic effect the timpani are often positioned on either side of the stage instead of in their usual position at the back. Nielsen's 5th symphony features a side drum which plays apparently random bursts in an attempt to disrupt the rest of the music.
Ravel's Bolero must be one of the most gruelling for a drummer. It features a side drum which must play a simple rhythm over and over again without any variation other than a gradual increase in volume over the entire 15 minutes of the piece.

This entry has been accepted, but we are going to do a little work on it before publication. I've moved the thread out of the Peer Review page to avoid it getting picked twice.
Sam is the man in charge of this one: you can contact him on his Space at http://www.h2g2.com/u255 if you are still making changes to it.
Hope this helps...
