I've been having issues with moderation these last couple of days, and I'm not happy. But I've updated my page a fair bit, downloaded the GuidePost program (search for MaW's page, it has a link), and been invited to join the Utopia Cafebar - go to the incredible marauding pillowcase's page (he's linked in the revolutionary dropdown box...)
Have a nice day...
Rob

Everything in Moderation, nothing in Excess! things do get curiouser and curiouser to Alice's point of thinking. Thought I would leave a message and say yes, I have been moderated. My whole page was removed for awhile, pending moderation. Then when I did update it well, I don't know if it is updated or not. I keep getting my old page.
I think the beef that the BBC has with me is that I encourage multilinguialism and multiculturalism. I am no revolutionary. I am a disillusioned flowerchild who thinks she can make a difference by trying to reach out and promote cooperation through education and acceptance. I saw so many links I had to check on your page that I did not get to read the article on Joan of Arc, I will though, and give you my comments. It is really great to find you. You can and are makeing a difference.

Wow! Such words of encouragement!
I think you *are* a revolutionary. For so long this world has imposed false divisions on the people inhabiting it that they have become real divisions. Religion, language, even race are all social constructs that bear no relation to reality.
You are standing up to this by encouraging multiculturalism and multilingualism - you are a revolutionary...
Rob.

I wouldn't say those things bear no relation to reality. They depend on personal interpretations of reality. As for me, I love languages, I know four and am trying to learn a few others. I like cultural diversity, and I would support people who want to preserve or to promote or to develop their own cultures. As for religions, I think every one has something of value, every one reflects the deep thoughts of large groups of people living over many generations and we need to respect different people's insights and interpretations.

dearest willem,
Miss your maurading ways. I am home in Fairhope for a while and reading a lot of the NY Times. I would like to help with the Utopia Cafe, but I just don't know how to network and post links yet. there was an interesting TV article on Aids in Africa recently so I think the word is finally getting out.

dearest rob,
thanks for responding. I guess I do dance to the beat of my own drummer. I try and stand up for the little guy. Right now there are a lot of articles on Mexico and US relations that I would like to get into the Utopia to bring them to the forefront. However, as I wrote to case, I just don't know how to thread the hyperlinks yet. I will get there though. I am continuing with my computer media courses and will make a small difference somewhere wherever I begin teaching Spanish. Check you soon.
Worlds of Love,

Hi again JLC! Yes, Spanish lessons will be very useful! I must learn it myself sometime - I have a textbook lying around the house somewhere. If you continue to have difficulties with hyperlinks, please ask - probably by now you'll have had success. Keep trying the Cafébar - sometimes it's slowish, othertimes faster - to me it seems quite similar in speed and reliability to BBC h2g2, which is of course not perfect, but if this place can be popular and useful (which it is) then so can the Cafébar, not?
I am also a disillusioned idealist! I am cynical yet I still maintain many romantic notions!

Wow, this thread is becoming a happy little place! So many people who care! Sorry I haven't been visiting Utopia much Pillowcase, but I've been busy (assignments, exams next week...) and I keep getting a script error when I drop by. Anyway, I'll try to get in again soon.
Oh, with regard to the ozone layer discussion, I read somewhere that they can artificially produce ozone, and somebody suggested putting those machines in a stationary orbit above the largest holes. Sounds intriguing!
Cheers,
Rob.

Hi Rob! Something strange seems to be going on at the Cafébar. I get in alright, and it's quite fast, I can still read everything, and until now I haven't had major problems, but right now there seems to be something wrong with the system for posting messages. I will ask Happy about it. Which web browser do you use?
Ozone is easy to produce, yeah, but I think we're going to need a pretty huge machine to have any chance of actually affecting the entire atmosphere!

I'm using Internet Explorer 5.00
I suppose you're right (about the ozone)...

Willem Posted May 30, 2001
I used Opera as well as I.E. and both gave the same problem, so it's not the browser. It seems to be the program itself, it's not updating correctly. Have you recently tried to access the site again?
Anyways, I emailed Happydude about it. He's the one who knows about the programming - I only supply a bit of material.
Ozone is a little bit old news, isn't it? I haven't read anything in the papers about it in a long while. Recently though I did read something about somebody not being able to tell the difference between the ozone hole and global warming. By the way, at ground level ozone is a serious pollutant!
Key: Complain about this post
