Gnomon,
I've recently returned a couple of subbed Entries:
A87758923 The Rhinoceros (Update)
and
A87752181 German Tanks of World War II
Now that I'm getting back into subbing I've noticed I made have made an error with REFERENCE tags, and notice that in Pliny skin the Reference tags are not hidden at the bottom of the Entry in the same manner as they are in Brunel skin (which I use for editing).
You may need to check the coding properly on those before they go 'live'.

Hi Matt. The tag is REFERENCES rather than REFERENCE and it needs to after the /BODY closing tag.
I'll fix those before they go live.
Thanks.

Cheers, I noticed it after I had returned them and thought 'Ahh. Bum.'.

Another quick query; I'm subbing Bluebottle's Southampton Monuments Entry...
I wondered what the stance was on using smileys in Approved Entries, as he footnotes the symbol to explain visually what the RAF insignia looks like.
Leave it in, or take it out?

>>>9 The roundel looks like this: <<<
I'd rather the footnote explained what the roundel looks like, and where it's commonly seen or used. There's a photo with this design already applied to the original copy, so using a smiley isn't necessary in my opinion.

My thoughts were along similar lines, but I wasn't sure about keeping the image in also, as it has already been used for the Southampton Airport Entry. Indeed, the copy itself does vaguely describe the roundel and how it is presented in the monument. All seemed a little superfluous.

I think the image of the spitfire can stay in place. BB is in the Artists team himself and there is a good new photograph coming through the pipeline, for the top of the Entry. When I add this new one, I may resize the existing image of The Titanic Engineer Officers' Memorial so it is similar to the spitfire photo.

Thanks for the advice. I'm not sure, but there used to be a yahoo group for subs (and artists). I've seen from browsing that there might (although I'm not sure as it appears to change) be one on Neosis? Do I need an invite?

When I next see Tavaron, I'll remind her to contact you Matt. The Artists are now using a very helpful system called Trello, and yes, she would have to send you an invitation.

Is that the same case for the sub-editor group too? I don't want to keep using EF to ask about current subbing guidelines...

Ah! I have just investigated, and noticed that you're not a member of Noesis, where there is a sub editor forum. I apologise, I didn't realise until now.
It's been an interim solution, while we wait for a permanent, custom made forum.
If you'd like to make use of this, please join Noesis as an ordinary member here http://forum.noesify.com/
Let me know the name you've joined as, 'Matt' is good Then I can arrange for the required permission for you to 'see' the Editorial forum.
The Noesis sub-ed forum does allow for confidential discussions, and has an IM service should you wish to contact me directly.
