h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Hi, since Sunday, hootoo's performance has been very bad at my end. It takes more than nine minutes to fully load my PS. It takes at least five minutes to load any thread or page. Today, at the advice from a friend, I checked the BBC main page, and it's not much better - it takes about three minutes to load. Is there anything that can be done about it? I'm too old, by the time I can see the first signs of the page, I've forgotten what it was that I'd been trying to load in the first place.

If it wasn't for Opera Turbo (which apparently goes via Norway), I wouldn't be posting now, I'm not the most patient person on this planet.

Is there something - anything - that can be done about it?

Truthfully, we're finding it a bit slow in here too. I'll ask around and raise the problem (if it hasn't already been raised).

I wondered whether it's to do with all the redesign that's going on, but it's baffling that it's different in different browsers.

It's gone from very bad to worse since the 'essential site maintenance' this mrning. It doesn't make any difference which browser I use now, and other BBC pages take even longer to oad than h2g2.

Any news?

Just double-checking, are you able to see other sites' pages quicker than the BBC pages?

It's only the BBC pages (messageboards).

I just got the following error messages when trying to sign in:

and when I tried again, it was:

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

And then it let me sign in.

Have you heard something yet? The problem still persist for me. The only time when it's OK is later in the evenings and early in the mornings.

I'm really sorry B'El we don't know what this is. It must be something your end because there are no reported network problems here. I'm sorry not to be able to help. I'll keep asking though.

I now hit return repeatedly, it seems to speed things up a little.

it's just so odd that it's only BBC sites which are concerned, no other sites.
