Hiya...I think I've got the right forum...

I'm writing something on a subject for which I have written material for the guide in the past. The article in question is in the Edited Guide, and I was wondering what the legal 'proprietorial' status of the entry was.

Do I still 'own' it, or would I have to ask you guys for permission to use it?
Would I, in fact, be able to use any of the material in it at all?
What, when you get right down to it, is going on?

You still have the right to use the material you wrote, just not exclusive rights. So you can use it elsewhere. What you can't use is anything that was contributed by anyone else unless you get that person's permission.

You don't need to ask the BBC's permission but you might want to mention to your publishers that the material already exists on the web.
