Like a fool(?) I thoght that all I had to do now was to just log in again as I used to before, but NO! I ended up with a whole new account, and I don't want it! I don't want to be researcher 169401! I want to be good old 45985 again! Help! Help!

You have to go through the re-register section and get yourself a BBC online account. Which is fairly pain free, but you do have to know your old password.
