I remember it opening

Post 1

Jim Lynn

When the Magic Roundabout was first opened, I thought it was a wonderful thing, because the bus that took us to school took 30 minutes to get past it. We were all delighted, anticipating half an hour less at school from now on.

The next morning, we passed through without a hitch. smiley - sadface

There continue to be rumblings about reverting back to a standard roundabout, which I think would be a huge mistake. I'd lobby for it being listed myself.

And if people who's never been there want to see a diagram, try here: http://www.hemelweb.demon.co.uk/history.htm

Before it opened the traffic jams were absolutely terrible coming down the hill on the duel carriageway (what's that road called, I forget?). As soon as the magic roundabout opened, there were no jams there anymore, so it really did work...

It looks like I have lost all editing privileges to this article now (i'm pretty new to this - is that correct?)

In which case, it would be nice if someone could put the picture that Jim has found into the article. Thanx.

The editorial team were saying how nice it would be to have an illustration on this Entry. We don't own the copyright on the picture that Jim found, so unfortunately to include it would be illegal.

You can still edit your original entry, but if you wanted to add to this the Edited entry, you'd have to leave an amendment here, in the conversations for the Roundabout page.

Thanks for writing about such a unusual subject... smiley - smiley
