My mother is German and she understands not enough english to participate in h2g2. Do you know any similar German language sites that are interesting? I want to start her on the computer with something that will hold her attention.

Hy nim,
perhaps some news-sites are of interest for your mother?
She can read the german news, sport events etc. etc. and can discuss it with people or talk about everything she wants.
I think, the best sites are:
http://www.rtl.de/
http://www.zdf.de/
The most of the german newspapers also have homepages (f.e. www.abendblatt.de, www.bild.de, www.spiegel.de etc. etc.)
there are also some links to other chats.
Bye, bye
