Ah. You've fallen into the cliche of thinking grunge was all about flannel shirts. Media influence...BAD THING Wampus...grunge was an excellent gateway to a lot of good new music. Overrated, yes...but without it, we wouldn't have any of the female rockstars...Courtney Love was more of the movement than Kurt was...Riot Grrl and all of that. And grunge is really a slack term as well. More a term for the time period...
