h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

I've noticed that when I make journal entries, I tend to make them long. Way longer than anyone besides me would want to read. I don't mind, though...it sure beats mumbling these entries to myself when I'm sitting at work bored out of my mind.

So what's new and interesting in my life? I went to visit my parents last weekend, and most of my extended family made fun of me for being fat. Not that I am fat, by any means. In fact, if you were to look at me, you'd see an average-looking sort of fellow. But I was a very skinny kid, and for me to be average now means that I've gained a lot of weight lately. I'd like to avoid ending up obese, like my dad.

My roommates are trying to put me up with a blind date. I know nothing at all about this person, except that she's a law student and has had trouble finding a boyfriend. And that it's ultimately her mother who's trying to set this up. My roommates are just intermediaries in this matter. Rest assured, whenever this happens, I'll be posting here about how it went.

What else? I miss my ex-girlfriend. In fact, I miss all of them, except that crazy one from high school. Looking back on the longest relationship I had (6 years of "best friends" followed by 3 months of "significant others"), I regret not admitting that I was in love with her. Strangely enough, she was the one who was afraid of commitment, and I was afraid that using that L-word would scare her off. It ultimately didn't matter, as after that three months I was without both girlfriend and best friend. Life really hasn't been the same since.

I'm bored of what I do to pass time at home, but I'm too lazy to go out and find something else to do. I would do more martial arts, but my instructor's classes are usually about 40 minutes drive away, and I'm not really getting enough out of the classes that I want to drive that distance to get it.
