Alright, perhaps not the most refined way to say hello...

But, were not all that 'continential' are we... smiley - winkeye

...and its Olympics time so you must be irritatingly parochial, or one might be called a heretic... smiley - winkeye

Hello there...

Firstly, I must make a confession, I popped over to your page before you came to mine, after I realised you were an Australian & up for a panoramic, windswept, technicoloured, decidedly daft romance over at Foxy Manor... smiley - bigeyes

So I skulked away after I realised you were hitched... smiley - smiley

So...

Uh...

smiley - winkeye

So where abouts do you live on this wide brown land ?

*Does Mexican wave while wearing outrageously daft Aussie flag cap, which promised self NOT to do while Olympics are on...*

Hideeho!

You make virtual adultery sound so enticing smiley - winkeye *hopes hubby hasn't worked out how to use this thing...*

Born and bred in Syderny (ref: Samaranch) although have travelled all around (YAY!) this wide brown land before heading off to Continental climes, which seems obligatory before or after uni...

You seem to have done a lot of uni stuff (if confessions in order, I snuck a peek at your resume smiley - smiley)

So Continental adventures should be all yours

*tries not to look jealous as realises mortgage kind of precludes those wild days in Paris, London etc anymore, not to mention hubby*
smiley - winkeye

But yeah, as I said, all my 'Gong friends seem to have skipped the globe, some married other nationalities and now live o/s...sob...

*cheers up considerably when realises this is a very good excuse to travel..."Honey, I just HAVE to visit Shell in San Fransisco"*

smiley - tongueout

* All so hopes the said hubby isn't lurking about... smiley - bigeyes *

It sounds like you had a blast...smiley - smiley

and then you got married... smiley - tongueout

So it CAN be done... smiley - winkeye

Will check out said spots when I'm rich & famous... smiley - tongueout

The lovely Mina offered me somewhere to stay for the first couple of weeks on my adventures, so I'm just hoping now she hasn't got a dungeon in RL... smiley - bigeyes

BTW Just watch the Aussie fever evaporate when we get to the end of the swimming and on to the track & field... smiley - winkeye

And the funny thing is, he knows about those heady days, and STILL married me!!! (altogether now, Ahhhhhhh)

...oh, but wouldn't it be fun to visit a dungeon in RL (esp with the lovely Mina smiley - tongueout)

By the sounds of her tools at Foxy Manor, she has had exposure to many more Oxford St shops than a simple Sydney girl like me smiley - winkeye

When are you going? It will be a blast, hope you stay there (in London, not in Mina's dungeon smiley - winkeye) till your hearts content. And if you can't get the travel bug out of you system, do what I did - work for a company with offices in just about every city in the world!

*starts to gaze out into middle distance, salivating at the thought*

Er...

Soz...

Where was I?

It sounds like the hubby had better make holiday plans soon or I might bump into you in the transit lounge... smiley - winkeye

Hopefully, I'll have the same times as you had... smiley - bigeyes

Although, I had better show SOME caution & er...precautions smiley - tongueout

It does seem like I have a lot to learn...

but I'm sure Mina knows a thing or three... smiley - winkeye

BTW Any tips for gaining work O.S ?

It's just last time out I tried to get work over there before I left... but I think they consider it too much trouble to consider oversea applications...

Thanks
Matt.

Definitely wait till you get there. I tried both methods (and I was a journo at the time, should have been easy, hey? - No.)

If you are not averse to doing stuff like pulling beers at any old pub you will be fine getting work as soon as you land. (you can't usually get work at the trendy ones right away. Although an Aussie accent used to open doors, I think the Brits are a bit "over it" now). Also cleaning jobs are plentiful (or were).

There are a number of great books doing the publishers rounds on getting work overseas if you want to do stuff like au pair-ing, live-in householder for posh schools, etc (but be prepared to do long hours)

Ummmm, can't think of anything else - if you are qualified in something (journalism is a good example, as it's very portable), get a work Visa, as you won't be able to do your job unless you have one.

Hope that helps smiley - smiley

So when are you off?
