Borders are like that! My first dog mum and dad got a few months before I was born - Mac - was a border cross collie - crossed with madness we often thought! He lasted til just before my 19th birthday, so to only have Pode a 8 years felt like we were robbed. They're great dogs, its hard not knowing if they'll let us have him or not though. See what Wednesday brings.
In the meantime, I'm back to my martini - hopefully you cant see the slurring too much in the post! - Give Buster a huge hug for me. Poor love.
Well.

Oh, just remembered - they had some greyhound pups. My heart went out to them, it really did. Fortunately, I'm sure they'll find lovely homes without too much bother!

With luck, if everything goes fine with the home visit tomorrow, we'll get Troy Friday morning!
It was so hard today. He really didnt want to go back to the shelter. Still. Fingers crossed and all that!
Well.

Can't wait til tomorrow morning! We get there for 9. Have a 45 min chat to cover the basics of looking after a dog (preaching to the converted, but they have to do it...) and then we get to take him home! Dad and Bro in Glasgow tomorrow, so just me and mum. I cant wait!
Well.

Wonder how the new lad is finding his first minutes in FCland.

Not too traumatic I hope! He's a bit skittish, has been trained to give cuddles on command (which is just sad) and not been allowed to have an independent mind. Neither has he ever fetched a ball or played with toys.
Now we have:
a) Changed his name to Titch (Mum's choice) as the centre said that he'd associate Troy with bad times. As he doesnt know his name, that's not too bad.
b) Learnt that if we stop cuddling him he goes off and investigates life. Which is a good start. He went upstairs as soon as we came in and then realised he hadnt been told to and cowered. Poor love. Same when he saw a squirrel in the garden - he went to have a look and then realised he'd not been told to.
c) Got him chasing balls and toys. All he does is take them to his bed, but it's a start!
d) Got him a new collar and lead. The only collar that fitted though is a bit disgusting, so hopefully it'll soon get dirty!
Life is good again. Something was definitely missing without a dog.
Well.

Slighlty offtopic: I just realised at last (two days ago?), thanks to this thread basically, the meaning of the name Gaspode
