Celine Dion (& other stuff)
Sho - employed again! Started conversation Jun 26, 2000
So, thought I'd have a look at yours (since you had looked at mine). Sniff. I want to do all that flashy stuff (from your other page) sniff.... anyway:
1) I have hated Celine Dion since the year dot. To make it worse while I was in labour with my first daughter, in the mad rush, I left my CDs (carefully selected) in my hospital room. My Dear Husband wouldn't get them for me (in case he missed anything, I ask you) so the midwife thoughtfully played me hers. Celine Dion - thankfully it was a total of 4 hours - but 4 hours of that. No wonder I was screaming so much.
2) I'm a veggie too. It's now such a normal part of my (our) life that I forget to tell people. Which is a bind in a country where you have to eat meat 5 times a day (by law )
3) Erm... that's it

Hi,
As a Canadian, I can say I'm thoroughly fed up with this Celine Dion woman. Fortunately, none of the radio stations I listen to will touch her stuff, so my exposure is almost nonexistent.
Hi, Sho,
I'm still in love with Peter Gabriel.

Glad you like cats, Pegasus.

And Peter Gabriel too! *have you checked out http://www.realworld.co.uk yet?*
Oh Sho... how my sympathy reaches out to you. FOUR HOURS!! But then perhaps the midwife thought the excruciating agony of listening to Celine Dion would prove a distraction from that other little business! In fact... 4 hours... sounds like it may have speeded up the process! LOL

I took Eric Clapton (oh I love him maybe even a teensy bit more than the hallowed PG!) for my 2nd daughter. And, wouldn't you know it, I was only in labour about 2 hours total (and only actually in the labour ward for 45 minutes of that - don't ask it's a boring story). Now, whenever I hear CD I feel a little (big, actually) voice in my ear shouting "push push woman can't you flaming well push!" (husband, not midwife: she was a tad more sympathetic)

Yes, I check out the Real World site on a regular basis. I believe it was during a search of the other PG sites that I found my way to h2g2. I'm really not sure how. I think it was divine intervention.

And what brought you here then?

The pressure to be witty on h2g2 is getting to be too much for me. I need a holiday but I'm not going to get one
I also read a magazine article about it - in a German magazine - but once I had seen the site for myself I realised that they didn't really get the point of it!

I got my computer in October and spent the first little while playing solitaire. When I finally started going on the net, all I did was search the P. Gabriel sites. Somehow I wound up finding h2g2. I've been here ever since, and love every moment I spend here. I've made some terrific friends, present company included. I feel fortunate to have found this place.

I love it here too, but don't you think it's a bit addictive?? I could be here all day and not get bored (and also not get paid and therefore starve to death!)
And now the complaint: you're page is called "you can call me al" and every time: EVERY TIME I see it I start humming the horn bit to myself. And I can't stop. ALL DAY!

A man walks down the street...
You're welcome Sho.
I don't think there's anywhere else at all like h2g2 on the net. It's the people that make the site. I've never met so many (maybe never!) people who seem to think on my wavelength.
Were you both fans of the books/radio/TV series? In general, all the researchers have sympathy and understanding of the aims of h2g2, want to contribute as best they can, and are happy to see the guide prosper.
I just got on to h2g2 as soon as I discovered it existed, and have been here ever since (sometimes literally)!!

Doo do do do, doo do do do..mmmmmmmmm (off I go again - and I do have a short little span of attention)
Oh, I've been a fan as long as I can remember. Pull up a chair, I'll tell you all about it....
I was at boarding school between 1976 and 1982, we used to smuggle a radio up to the dorm (well, me and my friend Helen) and listen to the old radio broadcasts. When the tv thing started we bribed and bullied and generally forced everyone either to leave the room while we enjoyed, or tied and gagged them to ensure total silence. Read the books - only about 50 million times. It IS amazing how many people you "meet" here who have the same ideas etc. Some of the guide entries are fascinating, others hilarious etc.
BTW: did you see the BBC tv thing? The chappie who played Ford Prefect (David Dixon his name is/was) had the most beautiful deep blue eyes - I had a massive crush on him then! But I always (from the radio) imagine Zaphod Beeblebrox more as a Bryan Ferry lookalike (now, that would be something! a 2 headed Bryan Ferry!)

Essex Grunger Boy AKA Marc Shuttle
Leonado DiCaprio
Various others

$u$ Posted Oct 21, 2000
I could go for a two-headed Bryan Ferry. But couldn't we make it one Bryan Ferry and one Gordon Sumner please. Phwoar!
I'd be perfectly happy if someone were to decapitate Leonardo DiCaprio though. And ideally remove a certain female's vocal chords at the same time.
