A Conversation for The Lost Episodes of 'Doctor Who' - the TV Series

I definately hope that all the Doctor Who episodes return.
I remember seeing a Tomorrow's World programme about how they had restored a Jon Pertwee episode with the sea-monsters in, but I can't remember which it was. They took one English black and white high quality copy and a poor-quality foreign copy in colour and spliced them.

I was just on my way to catch up with you blue, it seems you got there first,
they did do a bit on the daemonds, I have the clip on tape somewhere, thats one of the good things, they've done a lot of work on some of the material they get, but it would be great if they were all returned.
there releasing the tenth planet, the last william hartnell story on video later in the year, with the last episode missing, but with a reconstruction of it, they have released a reconstructed version of the regeneration scene at the end of the episode, before its not perfect but its nice to see.

I thought that the regeneration was the only scene of the last episode of The Tenth Planet that has survived? I'm sure I've seen a clip of it when they had a programme on about the missing Dr Who around 5 years ago (maybe more now)...?

as far as I know it is, but the one on video, so far, is a little longer and doesn't match up with the audio due to the bad quality,
when they released the video of the ice warriors with episodes 2+3 missing they used some of the soundtrack and some of the telesnaps to bridge the gap, expect they'll do something similar with the tenth planet.
Its very annoying to hear rumours of it existing but turning out to be cruel jokes.

I remember seeing a programme with that in at the same time - one which told the whole story of how many episodes were burnt at the same time as someone being given permission to own them.
I am eternally surprised the BBC just let it happen - not even trying to auction the tapes off or sell them, but just treating them as if they were worthless.

I have seen the programme can't tell you what it was,
but theres lots of other programmes they also destroyed, steptoe and son and such
I remember someone saying people used to take them from the archives, to watch at home and bring them back after the weekend.
and when they did start looking for then they only wanted complete episodes not clips, now they want anything, such a shame.

yeah I didn't think of it at the time,
I remember john lennon had a similar problem which is why he released the complation album shaved fish, the record company apparently just weren't keeping the material.

Doh! I seem to have this amazing ability to miss Dr. Who related articles getting approved, and always end up arriving late. Hey ho. Nice article though. If they do the Tenth Planet like they did The Ice Warriors I'll be happy. There is an extra video with that one (I think) with a load of clips from lost episodes, including the regeneration from The Tenth Planet isn't there?
On a related note viz. The Daemons, does anyone else find Greg Dyke's plan to start a digital BBC3 scary?

I think its going to be a boxed set of the tenth planet and attack of the cybermen, as I've heard or at least as I know all the audio from the episode will be on the video and whatever they have visually of the episode can't wait myself
