My specialist subject is exams coz i'm doing them @ the mo but as i say........ANYTHING is solveable by me!!!

I'm one of h2g2 ACEs which is short for Assistant Community Editors and we should be greeting every single new researcher - unfortunately we aren't always in time - I see you were here weeks ago... *ashamed* But better late than never, right?

But now, to your offer for help - would you please tell me how to get rid of phone bills? That has been my worst concern since I joined h2g2... And you have been warned!

Phone bills...well, i seem to have the same prob so i will try to help you.
For a start if u are with bt they are probably charging you an arm and leg for the phone calls...try switching to one that claims its cheaper...it probably is.
Another option is to take 3 courses. One on speed typing, one on scan reading and one on thinking and processing thoughts really quickly. i think u will notice the difference.
Finally, you could just restrict ureself and try to limit the places u visit to just the important ones. It helps if u go online after 6 too. Alternativly move to a hut in a far off land and live on ure own plants and creatures...soon u will have forgotten about ure need for the internet, and remember your needs for things such as toilet paper and chocolate.

I would be happy to change phone company - unfortunately there's only one around here... And about those courses - I already type fast enough - a bit faster and my brain won't follow anymore... And I already use scan reading - causing me to lose the point of the busiest threads when trying to scan through tens of posts while trying to catch up with other ones at the same time... And thinking quicker - I could take a course on that one - I often find myself pondering for minutes for what to do in a thread which needs me to post there in order to keep up with the continuity... So I guess there is not much to do that wait for the phone company to decide to include my ISP with the "surf as much as you will"-cost-thingie... (which could take forever) Or just wait until the school starts again and hope that being online there doesn't mess up my A-levels too badly...

A-levels. Scary. I am just about to embark on my GCSE courses which is just the start I guess...I do get to escape from school a week today though. But i'm blue as my best mate is on holiday and before that i was on holiday so I havn't seen her for ages ...I'm coping though and trying to keep my thoughts happy (eg )
How long ago did you become an ACE and how? What do you get to do??? Sounds fun, even if you have got rocketing phone bills.

Yep, the task of the ACEs is certainly to pop up on every newbie's page and make them feel welcome and offer any help with h2g2... Sadly it often happens that if an ACE doesn't get there in time new users just slip away without knowing what h2g2 could really offer... And I've only been an ACE for a couple of weeks - very new one, that is... And one becomes an ACE by applying for it - Abi or Peta are the ones to ask for it... But if you're planning to become one, I'd suggest you take a good look around here first - the ACEs should be able to help out with any problem about h2g2 or at least find a person who can if they can't... Not that anyone could know everything...

I am here at school on their computers using their phone bills for change (that is another tip for the list, as i gather you are at school). I'm here with my friend Ceazzarin (she doesn't want to be called that -HA!) trying to show her the delghts of h2g2 (she read the book but got bored - lol!)Here is a message from her:

"hi, Pure~shore won't let me write what I want but I'll just say Hi!"

(she wanted to say that this whole thing is rubbish but i thought it might have hurt ure feeling!!!...Sorry!)
Oh well that's all 4 now (let me know how ure a-level revision/exams/results are going coz i care and know how hard it must be!!! actually i probably don't...*remains thoughtful*)
