Jim, it's a long shot, but I was wondering if you had access to any screenshots from the old Howerd2 system? I'm trying to find shots of one or two pages that can be used to explain the threading system that was used to a friend who's helping me develop some extensions to a freeware BBS.
If you have anything you think might help, could you possibly send it as an email attachment to [email protected]?
Thanks in advance, and don't worry if you don't have anything; as I said, it was a long shot.

I don't have anything like that, I'm afraid. I wasn't involved in developing or maintaining Howerd2, and I've no idea if anyone would have screenshots.

I know I emailed several to the BBC when I was submitting bug reports, but I didn't keep copies and I doubt anybody there did either.

Peet,
I have several saved pages from howerd2 containing tree view. Would these be any use to you?

Yes please, Jont! "Somebody Else" just emailed me one, but the more the merrier! I just want to reverse-engineer things like the size of the "tabs", font size etc., so if you've saved the CSS too that would be really handy. Zip 'em up and send them to the address above, please!

No probs, Peet.
Did you notice I updated my script this evening?
I'm rather chuffed with the update.. though it may be a feature you're not particularly interested in.
Keep well.

Gosh Peet,
how long can it take to change one boolean and two colour values?
(Ok, maybe you tweak it more than I imagine)
Sleep well when (and if) you do.

It's just finding the values; it needs more concentration than I can spare just now.
(I'm just watching tonight's "Life on Mars"...)

A thought - next release, how about putting the colour values in an external text file, so that they remain unaltered through future upgrades...?

It's always been on the cards to be a user-configurable option.
But, to achieve this, there is a big step change in how the 'script' will work.
Achilles is doing sterling work in laying down the foundations for this.
Meanwhile, I give you quick fixes
Off to bed now.
