oh that Right to Work law is going to come back and bite someone on the bum sometime. I'm sure of it.
But Austin sounds like a nice town. Not too ginormous that it becomes soulless.

It is (still) a nice place to live, but I hear forecasts that it'll have a population of two million by 2025. I think it was around 600,000 when I arrived in '99. Anyways, that's enough about Austin and my accommodation and rental woes. Now back to your regularly scheduled thread.

to be honest, I like the distractions.
and it is always interesting to hear other peoples' stories.
all round
I'm planning an official objection to my evaluation result, and will formulate the text for that over the weekend. I have until 16th to submit it (I have an essay to submit on 17th which means that I'm writing over the weekend anyway)

It was either me or Mudhooks. I know we both participated in it a lot. I lost my source of stories when I left Cheapo, although I did get an occasional story from the servers at the Drafthouse, and some of them made you go at the arrogance and stupidity of people in restaurants.
Cheapo closed down over Christmas. Not enough sales of CDs and DVDs any more I guess now that so many people are buying mp3s and streaming their video from places like Netflix and Hulu.

I wish I had known about a Strange Customers thread back when I still dealt with customers. I would've enjoyed reading, and sharing. In my current role I don't deal with patients, just vendors. Some are them are a bit persistent, but none of them are quite strange. Not that I am aware of, anyway.
It's unfortunate when small shops go out of business. Here in Chicago, most of the chain store type places have gone under, but lots of the independent record and video rental stores still thrive, thankfully. I had to order a new turntable and cassette deck today from an online store because none of the local electronics stores seemt to have analog hi-fi components in stock any more. We'll need a new receiver and speakers, too, but I was in a rush to get the turntable while we can - the company ceased production a while back and even the used ones are getting harder to find (as well as considerably more expensive).
