Sho - employed again!

Not much to say on the subject, but it was touch and go today whether or not I just walked out and never went back.

Only the fact that I have to feed my kids keeps me there.

I hate it.

Me and a few million others I guess.

So I'll stop whining about it now.

But before I go I will mention that the New Guy (smiley - grr who has replaced the guy I worked with most and got on with best, but he has gone home again) made me smiley - wah in the loo today.

I'm 41. I thought those days were gone.

I guess not.
bah!

And now I have a stomach ache thinking about going in tomorrow.

Oh heavens, Sho. This is awful. Are you looking for something else? Perhaps you should even drop hints about it if you are. Who can you take the problem to?

I left my last job but one because of the boss. She was such a cow, not one of us gels had not had a smiley - wah on the loo smiley - cheerup after various confrontations with her.

Mind you, opting out was made easy for me when the firm was bought up and moved away and I got an enormous severance handout. Not long after I left, said boss left, too. smiley - bleep I'd have stayed if it wasn't for her.

Still, if you're thinking of changing, don't leave it too long.

I was shocked to hear a statistic the other day (hard to believe, should probably be taken with a pinch of salt) that: over 50 % of German companies do not employ people over 50.

Which means that I shall stay where I am now until I retire, come hell or high water.

I'm not sure if that statistic means that they don't have anyone on their payrolls over 50 or if it just means that they don't take anyone over 50 on. Either way, I'm now written off as far as getting a job in this country is concerned.

Experience doesn't count. Dependability doesn't count. This country is going downhill.

That's interesting about the age thing because when I lived in Germany in 1990 I remember telling people at home about the German policy that once past a certain age, workers couldn't be made redundant. I thought it was great, especially coming from a Yorkshire pit village and having experienced lots of lay-offs. Maybe that has now changed?

I'm not sure there is any protection for employees over a certain age. There may be, but it will only apply to people working in companies where the employers have signed an agreement with the unions.

I'm sure they could chuck me out if I was a bad enough girl.

Are things any better this week, Sho? I do hope so smiley - hug.

I've only got three weeks left at my place - YeeeeeHah, which means only 12 more wo*king days.
What happens to me after that is somewhat in the lap of the Bobs but I'm aiming for quite a few weeks off.
Had to fill in my exit form the other day and resisted the temptation of stating the real reasons but if a certain person causes me any difficulties I have several metaphoric buckets of the brown stuff to heave over him if necessary.

Keep your chin up lass - and remember that old school motto 'Nil illegitemum carborundem est' - or summit like that.

It has improved somewhat, but the basic underlying problem is still there - so I don't expect it to get really good.

If nothing else, that glass ceiling (which is very low) is giving me a headache.

A few weeks off should be nice, especially now when spring is about to... well, spring. Enjoy!!

Yeah - I'd like to stop work altogether and become an old-fshioned mum and housewife. My husband says I wouldn't stand that for long.

Still it all has its ups and downs, and looks like you got so far down the only way was up, Sho.

It does seem to be getting better. Ho hum.

I did stay home for 3 years with baby gruesomes, but I absolutely hated it. Mostly because I don't like babies very much, but a lot because it was enforced (company closed while I was pregnant) and we were flat broke going into it (they didn't pay me for 4 months, but since I wasn't allowed to be "fired" in my condition the Arbeitsamt would not consider my application for Arbeitslosengeld...) and probably (ever diagnosed) post natal depression to a certain degree.

Man, I do feel sorry for myself sometimes!!

It could be my hormones, it could be that I'm naturally very up or very down and never much in between.
