This is reminscent of the poem "When I grow old I'll wear purple" by Jenny Joseph. Do you think that being fifty is a little too young for these rebellious thoughts?
I found this poem very spirited and invigorating. Thanks.

Thanks. I suppose most of us have to wait until retirement. Still, no harm in planning.....

There's this house in France. I can see myself pottering about growing fruit, making wine...

So can I, it sounds a lovely dream, hope it works out for you. Have you written any more poems, if so where can I find them?
I also write poetry, it's mainly lighthearted, surreal and anarchic, so I'm told.
Best wishes to you on this lovely sunny afternoon.

I belong to the Poetry Workshop of the Society of Public Service Writers and have had some things published in their anthologies. I used to send things to Poetry Now, which is published by Forward Press, but I got suspicious of their motives.
Do you send poems anywhere? Best wishes with the poetry.

I write poetry that I have had published in various magazines, I've heard of Forward Press but I know nothing of them. I have features on a bbc website in the blackcountry which is where I come from, also I belong to a Writers Group and I'm shortly to do a performance at City Voices in our town. This does sound grand but it's an absolute nightmare doghole of a place and it smells so let us hope poetry prevails.
My bbc links are Carol Ward the Latest and
Carol Ward Blurring of Genders.
We have to be careful of Vanity Publishers who flatter us in order to deceive us and the relieve us of our hard earned cash

I looked at 'Blurring of Genders' and found it very entertaining. I should think it would work well as performance poetry. It's noticeable that rhyme enhances amusing poetry. Best wishes

Dear vogonpoet
I'm sorry I haven't been in touch, time just flies doesn't it?
Thanks for looking at Blurring of Genders and my other bbc stuff.
I think the last time I spoke with you I was about to do City Voices which was being held in a rats nest. Anyway the venue was changed and it was done at the new local City Bar. Nerve racking but thankfully it is over now.
Are you writing ?if so let me know where I can read your poetry which I found most enjoyable.
Please stay in touch

Dear Dazzlinglucinda
I haven't visited this site recently, so I didn't see your post.
To be honest, I've only written a handful of poems of this style-defiant and feminist. I put 'The Anniversary Present' on this site- A12051541 and got some nice comments. I've just put 'You are my Bicycle' on here too.
Most of my poetry is gentler and more reflective- and probably more boring! I've just joined Brighton Writers- www.brightonwriters.com, so perhaps I'll try my poetry out there
I'm glad City Voices went well.
Best wishes.
