Hello Sho,
do you still remember me? Last year we had some nice talks. I wonder if we could repeat that! Love, Steffi

Yup, right, I live in Düsseldorf. didn't use my account for ages because first my PC was on strike, then h2g2 redesigned and then I had just forgotten about it. But now I am here to stay

Sho - employed again! Posted Jul 25, 2001
you... gasp!... forgot about h2g2!!!!! To be honest I don't hang out here as much as I used to, partly because of work, but partly because it "doesn't seem the same anymore" but maybe that's just me.
Ho hum
So, how are you?? I've moved to Erkelenz and nearly had a heart attack yesterday when my husband told me that Fury in the Slaughterhouse are playing here ... here in Erkelenz!!!... next month. I can't believe it!

Steffi Posted Jul 25, 2001
hey,
thanks, I am fine, and U?
I knew that Fury are going to play in Erkelenz, and to be honest, I wonder why!
What really pi***d me off was that Judas Priest (sic) played in Cologne last month, and no- one told me. It was terrible to find out that I lost the chance of my life...
You are right, this h2g2 is not the same anymore. But lets see what one can do with this version, right?
Looking forward to some nice conversations with you again!

To be honest I thought JP were all dead or something.... my hubs told me the other day that Rob Halford is gay, and I'd completely missed all that.
I love the Fury's, saw them at Xanten a fair few years ago with Terry Hoax (love them) and we've always wanted to be able to cycle to a gig, and since it's going to be pretty small we're going to brave it and take the kids (4 and will-be-3-by-then).
I was in Düss today (the hubs has started working there) it was fab, there was a book thing on, and I bought about 15 paperbacks in English. I love it, I was running out of stuff to read, and was seriously thinking about - gasp! - actually biting the bullet and reading something in German. *faints*

Rob Halford is gay? Oops!I didn't know that! Well, might explain all the leather dresses! Anyway, the music is still great, and the STones, Aerosmith and Black Sabbath are dead, toi, it is just that nobody has told them yet!
Today is my birthday, and my bf gave me a CD- ReWriter. I luv him for that! So I can finally clear my Drive from more than 150 mp3s and make some nice CD's.
You want to cycle to a concert? I must admit, that idea is new to me! Bu I don' like cycling anyway, to much sports in it! Uwe and I prefer driving in our car with a million stickers on it and a lovely little CD player with an even more lovely sound... you can't install a bass booster in a bike!
So you went to see the Büchermeile, something I totally missed this year. I returned to Duss yesterday in the evening after spending the weekend with friends in Bochum and family nearby. I am proud to say that I am sober again!

Oh, Zum Geburtstag viel Glück (that'll get moderated I expect: Dear Moderators, that's happy birthday in German)
Tomorrow is my daughter's birthday: she's a typical Leo. Oh heck. A 3 year old Leo, just what I could do without! She's getting a Baby Born and a new Barbie. Wanna swap with her??
My hubs told me that Rob Halford came out fairly recently. But that could have been anytime within the past 5 or 10 years!
As to cycling to a gig: I used to get so fed up of the traffic (after U2 in about ... oh, long long long time ago : Joshua Tree tour) we were at a traffic light right outside the Mungersdorfer Stadion for 3 and a half hours. Never moved! And all the locals just cycling home. So I've always wanted to give it a go.
Off to put my nose in all my lovely new books.....

Cuuute! A baby Leo! My Mom is Leo, too, and uses to call me Löwenbaby. Well, no, thanks very much indeed, but I think I can live without a new Barbie. Since H & M went crazy this year with pink and rose´, there are enough living Barbies out on the streets!
You are right, Müngersdorf is hell of a mess. I've been there several times at Footie matches, and it is the worst place to be. I study in Cologne now, that does not make it easier... Here in Düss it is easy for me to join events. I just go there by tram. (Philipshalle) I think, one must know the locations very good, with all the little secret places to park yr car, and a Bike seems to be quite useful!

Sho - employed again! Posted Jul 31, 2001
I used to love going to the Philipshalle by tram. Ah, those were the days!
Tell me about H&M: my #1 daughter (four and a half) wants to be a pink fairy when she grows up. Each time we go in that shop she nearly explodes at all the pink fluffy/shiny stuff!
The barbie went down well, but not as well as the baby born. Sigh.
So, what are you studying? (if it isn't a rude question) I love Cologne, especially when I went to see Bob Dylan and Neil Young (not together) at the Tanzbrunnen. Great place, nice city.
Steffi is back
Steffi Posted Aug 1, 2001
No, the question is not rude- why should it?
I study Aegyptology, African Languages & Culture and English. But to be honest, all I do is learning several languages like Kiswahili, Dutch and so on. Not that my subjects were boring, but I found out that Phonetics and Phonology of African Languages don't get me anywhere in future. So I decided to attend the lectures I am interested in, like art, history, ethnology and so on. Maybe not the correct attitude, but I cannot be asked to write a test about ancient coins...
Yes, Cologne is quite nice, better than Düsseldorf, in my opinion. But I dont like the fact that on every corner of the street you find a camera- team with stupid questions about stupid things. Which sun- blocker do you use? How expensive was your mobile phone? Do you think Marihuana should be legalized? Blah!!!
So, yr daughter liked the baby born? Something I might be too old to understand. I find them ugly,, but the Kids love them, like Barbies. Now that I am 23 (aaargh!), they depress me. Pefect body But when I was a child, I owned a million of these little zombies! The horses are the best about Barbie, if U ask me.
Steffi is back
Sho - employed again! Posted Aug 2, 2001
Wow! Egyptology & African Languages! (you don't watch Stargate do you? Just think where those subjects might lead!)
What I like about Köln is that it's not (quite) as "me me, I I" as Düsseldorf. And Marks & Spencer (if it's still there, haven't been in a while)
Ah, the gruesome asked for a baby born, to be honest I don't mind, as long as she doesn't expect all the paraphernalia as well, that is lethal with 2 daughters. She likes the barbie, but her older sister plays with barbies more. I hate them, but what can we do about it? When I was a kid (I'm 37) we only had one each... I was shocked when I discovered that having 6 or 7 was "normal"
OK, no time today, I'll just go and melt in a puddle and hope it really does cool down tomorrow (no a/c in the office)

I've got something nice. A scottish friend sent me the following:
Seven bartenders were asked if they could identify personality on what drinks were chosen. Though interviewed separately, they concurred on almost all counts. Here are the results:
IF WOMEN DRINK:
Drink: Beer
Personality: Casual, low maintenance, down to earth
Approach: Challenge her to a game of pool
Drink: Blender drinks with umbrella
Personality: flaky, annoying, dizzy, and a pain in the ass
Approach: avoid her, unless you want to be her cabin boy
Drink: Mixed drinks- no umbrellas
Personality: Mature, knows what she wants, has picky taste
Approach: if she wants you, she'll send YOU a drink
Drink: wine (bottled, no 4 litre cask)
Personality: Conservative and classy, sophisticated
Approach: try and weave Paris and clothing into the conversation
Drink: Bacardi Breezer, Smirnoff Ice, Vodka Mule etc.
Personality: easy, thinks she is trendy and has absolutely no clue.
Approach: make her feel smarter than she is and you're in
Drink: Baileys
Personality: annoying voice, bit of a tart
Approach: stand close and mention the alley next to the pub
Drink: shots (Vodka, Aftershock etc)
Personality: hanging with male pals or looking to get drunk- and naked
Approach: easiest hit in the pub. Nothing to do but wait.
IF MEN DRINK:
Cider: He's probably under- aged and wants to get laid
Cheap Domestic Beer: He's poor/ student and wants to get laid
Premium Local Beer: He likes good beer and wants to get laid
Bitter: He's old, likes good beer and wants to get laid
Imported Beer: He likes expensive beer and wants to get laid
Guinness: The man is a rapist and will get laid one way or another
Wine: He's hoping that the wine thing will give him a sophisticated image and help him get laid
Vodka or Brandy: Extremely horny hound, would shag a warm scarf. Desperate to get laid.
Port: Thinks he is sophisticated, secretly likes men, wants to get laid
Whisky: Doesn't give two sh**s about anything and will hit anyone who will get in his way of getting laid
Jack Daniels: Not as masculine as the Whisky drinker, knows all about feminine activities (knitting, crochet etc) to weasel himself to getting laid
Tequila: Likes fighting almost as much as getting laid
Bacardi Breezer, Smirnoff Ice etc: He's gay (blatantly)
DONT TAKE THIS FOR SERIOUS!!!

I had an EXCELLENT weekend! How was yours?
yesterday was my Mom's birthday and she loved my present. Good girl! And also yesterday I got the tickets for the CL Qualifying match Ajax Amsterdam- Celtic Glasgow. Isn't that lovely!?! I can't wait for Wednesday! Are you interested in Footie?

Sho - employed again! Posted Aug 6, 2001
Ohh... glad you had a good w/e... mine was the usual round of trying to fit everything in before the shops close, washing, ironing, and playing with lego... great, actually, I love it!
Footie... hmmmmmm... well, I "support" Sheffield Wednesday, which hasn't got much to do with football, just family tradition. They're sooooo bad it's embarassing. My other half, however, loves anything that involves men and a ball (oh, sounds a bit pervy!) so we now have about 40 sports channels and not long to go until the season takes over my tv again. Sigh. Still, keeps him happy - bless his heart.
Ajax against Celtic... so, who's going to win that one, eh? In Dutch football I sort of follow what Feyenoord do... but not fanatically. In Germany I'm just glad if someone beats Bayern (sorry) and in UK well... it's difficult, with ManU dominating everything. I'm glad Celtic did so well last season though - I love their shirts (pathetic, I know) and Larson (Is that how you spell it?) is just a dream to watch. Oh, looks like football sucked me in after all.
Now Rugby... I like to watch that (Internationals only)... how about you?
Steffi is back
Steffi Posted Aug 6, 2001
Rugby is cool, muscles, dirt, sweat and emotions. Yupyup! But to be honest, I have no idea about the rules. Are there any?
Larsson is great, isn't he? We use to call him Ghod... I bet Celtic will win over Ajax. They have to, because they haven't lost a mmatch with me in the stadium yet. And they won over ManU last Wednesday, so they should be able to manage Ajax. When Dortmund played Ajax years ago, we used to say: Ajax ist zum Putzen da. (!!!)
Sheffield Wednesday? Okay, right, they are not the best team I've ever heard of. But things could be worse. Have you ever heard of Fareham? Ask yr husband, he might tell you about them. After he's finished, you will be glad to support Sheffield Wednesday!
I am glad to hear you hate Bayern Munich. Everybody does, except those few Bavarian weirdos. Bayern Munich is the German version of ManU, isn't it? Bah.
Today, a friend and I will go SHOPPING! EXTREEEEEEME! No, to be honest, extreme- shopping has lost its thrill for me since (we spoke about it) H&M went crazy. However, I am looking forward to spending a lot of money on useless things I will never wear! Thanks Ghod it's a rainy day, so the stores could be emptier than usual.

Sho - employed again! Posted Aug 7, 2001
Rugby does have rules but they're way complicated. Better just to look at the muscles and sweat. And the muscles. And the mud. Did I mention the muscles?
I love the way you're so confident for Celtic! How do you come to support them, anyway? Why not Fortuna Düsseldorf? (ha ha) I'm afraid to say I haven't seen any of the new Scottish football season (no, actually I'm not sorry!) we get Sky tv, and I notice that footie is going to hog my tv from saturday.. ho hum. Still, at least I get my sci-fi fixes in the evenings, so that's ok.
I'm always glad to support Sheffield Wednesday.. oh it's a bare faced lie! I hate them, but can't bring myself to totally desert them. Poor loves.
Extreme shopping? Sounds good. Düsseldorf or Köln? I haven't been to Köln for ages. I love it there. But maybe M&S has closed, so I have no need to shlepp all that way for a roasted vegetable sandwich? It's better than Düss though, because I can pack the ol' man and the gruesome twosome off to the zoo while I spend all the rent money on knickers.
Shopping for me, these days, consists mostly of kids' stuff. You wouldn't believe how fast those pesky little feet grow! And big one wants everything pink.................. today, though, going shopping after work for computer stuff for me. Yippee. But perhaps that just makes me a sad ol' geek. Then tonight I'm going to finish making a skirt that I started in May.... no time... it's beautiful material though, I cut up a red-with-gold-embroidery sari... a shame but can you imagine when I'd wear a Sari? Nope, didn't think so.
So, hope the shopping was/is good. Tell me what you bought!
