It started as a joke. We were trying to come up with ideas for future calls for entries, and someone - I think it was Anna - yelled out 'Sex!'. After the cries of 'Yes please!' had died down we realised that, even though 'Sex' is our most popular category in the Life/Universe/Everything system, there's not a lot in the Guide on this most popular of pursuits.
So I did a search for good sex entries in the Guide and hardly found any good ones: the ones I did find are listed below - check 'em out, especially the Durex one, which is a model of collaborative researching...

But I digress. There were plenty of entries with promising titles, but their bodies simply didn't deliver. However, it was obvious that a good way to get your entry read would be to give it a title like 'Read this entry for free sex!', and although that would be stopping to levels well below that normally found on h2g2, it sounded like an intriguing concept.
Then someone in the team - I'll tell you who in a minute - thought a good way to find out whether the community was interested in sex would be to put up an empty entry on a well-visited home page with the title 'My Sex Life'. And then to see who commented on it. How we laughed at the thought, and got back to the job in hand... making tea, as I recall.
Ten minutes later this person - patience, patience, you'll find out who in a sec - had created a blank entry with the title 'My Sex Life', changed the Researcher number to mine, and stuck it on the site.
Guess who it was.

That's the most *convincing* wriggle out of a set-up I've seen in a long time.
Talk about trying to distract from the issue.
