I was born in Coatbridge and I'm inclined to agree - some of the pubs are OK but apart from that it's pretty pants. A tip on how to improve the Coatbridge experience - try living in Airdrie for 2 years, like me, you will soon long for the high life of Coatbridge once more, well for a short while anyway.

Ah- I have to agree about Airdrie- I've never tried it as a comparable living experience to Coatbridge, but the thought sends shivers down my spine.I suppose everything is relative.

(Note to anyone who doesn't know what we're talking about- Everything in the first entry about Coatbridge appliies at least equally to Airdrie. Coatbridge has marginally happier drunks, who are less bigotted by a fraction of a degree; however,the bigotry degree is only detectible if you use very, very sensitive equipment, and on the whole, it's probably best to avoid the whole sorry mess.)
