A Conversation for Iron Maiden - the Band

I found a few grammatical errors in this entry.
In the 7th paragraph (not counting the lists):
''The Beast On The Road' tour was a gruelling 180 date over eight months, and was pretty hard on the band'
The word 'date' should be changed to 'dates.'
In the next paragraph, the author starts to use plural pronouns for Maiden and Iron Maiden.
'In 1985, on the 'World Slavery Tour' (for the Powerslave album), Maiden played to their largest ever crowd.'
The pronouns were given singular form previously, and references to a band should be singular. This shift continues through the rest of the entry.
And in the next paragraph:
'Over the 80s, metal became less fashionable and was replaced with more electronic-orientated music'
The word electronic-orientated should be electronic-oriented. Orientated signifies a direction (east, left, up).

Also, i'd like to point out that in the article, it mentions something about (and i do this from memory, so it's not exact) "janick Gers replaced Adrian". Now, Adrian (Smith) had not previously be mentioned in the article, so anyone unfamiliar with the band would not know who he is etc.
Just a thought...

Plural pronouns?! What do you call this, a GCSE examination?!
Anyway, I want to make my own improvements to this entry, so I'll tell the editor about your own suggestions, picky as they are...

Sorry. I'm an equal-opportunity nit-picker. I have begun to review each entry the day it is approved for proper grammar and spelling. My feeling is that anything 'published' should be checked for these. And though this is theoretically done by the sub-editors, I try to clear up anything additional that I notice.
If such errors remained uncorrected indefinitely, people might get the mistaken impression that h2g2 is not a quality resource. It's nothing personal, Quorthon.
Key: Complain about this post
