That was angry poetry. If poetry.

No rant one year on. A different year, differents beds. In 2012 parsnips, courgettes, beans both broad and runner, and strawberries occupied the beds.

The courgettes. Disappointingly slow start led to too short a season and a shortage of sliced courgettes grilled with herbs and garlic.

The parsnips. Excellent crop, excellently large but S 'cracked on' in digging them up resulting in three weeks of parsnip soup, parsnip mash, parsnip soup, roast parsnip, parsnip soup, boiled parsnip, parsnip soup, parsnip mash, parsnip soup, roast parsnip, parsnip soup, boiled parsnip, parsnip soup. (If anyone knows a parsnip jam recipe, keep quiet about it. Please. There are still parsnips occupying the fridge.)

Beans Broad. Good. Broad beans and bacon were very good in combination.

Beans runner. Took off! Superbly long, ran away from us, couldn't keep up and many beans went to seed. Or is it went to bean.

Strawberries. On probation. Better be better berry production next year.

Here in Belgium, spuds and carrots and topinambour went reasonably, radishes and rocket went well, beans and strawberries not good.

Pear tree on its quiet year (it alternates) but hopefully back to productivity next year.
