Continuing http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/F40352?thread=4838612 The enquiry goes on but in the meantime the RSPB have reported three facts 1. Trump International accept that the golf course, hotel and housing development does not need the area designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). 2. They acknowledge that the development as planned will destroy most of the interest of the SSSI. 3. Donald Trump has made it clear he would rather the entire development was refused than that he got consent that excluded the SSSI area. If the Scottish Parliament allow this it makes SSSI designation in Scotland meaningless. The fact it's possible that they might leaves the feeling that no environmental protection by Government can be relied on and the only method that counts is direct ownership of land. The Balmedie/Forveran shifting sand system, the SSSI, is a small piece of wilderness. Britain doesn't have enough wilderness, wilderness is good for the soul. This planned development sounds singularly soulless.

Hi my dear friend,
Somehow this thread got lost in a whole host of other things.
I do not know what to say except that of course there should be marvellous wildlife reserves which are available to all - rich and poor, abled and disabled!!
There are precious few places for the disabled I can assure you.
I am sure that Scottish sanity will prevail and what is best for keeping this wildlife reserve will conquer all.
with affection
