Waz the photos are brilliant! I'm so glad I have broadband now ... was able to go through all of your photos in about an hour ... and that time mostly spent not on waiting for the photos to load, but on looking at them and enjoying them! Your bird photos are very well done. I just love those puffins!
I'm also very happy to see such a varied vegetation growing on Iceland! Maybe it's the name but I've always imagined it to be a somewhat barren place!

Ah Waz,
There is boxing on so I have torn myself away from the TV to look at your photographs.
Marvellous. but so many questions.
The landscape was interestng and not so different to ours except that there appeared to be a dearth of trees.
Extraordinary all the larva standing and lying around. I have been up to look at a crater in Hawaii but this had no water in it and there were people who had climbed down to go right to the bottonm.
Did you stay in one of those chalets and then drive around?
glad you enjoyed a hottub. What happens if the water gets too hot.? do you all jump out and rush around and roll in the snow - except that there was no snow.
Did you have a mud bath?
Are the volcanoes still active that the steam, and water and mud are still hot. Or are they nhearer the survace. I think that I would be a bit nervous going to visit there.
S thank you for your pics. I have only gone half way. will look at the rest later.
Thank you so much for sharing them with us all.
With affection

apologies Christiane, for not answering that post - I'm not keeping up very well on h2g2.
We did stay in chalets, two altogether, and hired a car (big 4 wheel drive monster thing - pity we didn't know how to 4 wheel drive!).
The hot tubs have constant temperatures, about 39, 40 ish. You do get hot, but then just sit on the edge in cool air. An Icelander in the hot tub at the swimming pool said we ought to be there when there was snowand the temp was -13, not the +13 it was that day.
Mud baths are available, but I didn't . And the volcanoes are active, there are 30+ small earthquakes by the day! Too small to feel mostly - I didn't feel any. Being there was like seeing all the early stages of the forming of our earth as we know it.

And back to Barclays. Thank you Barclays for putting our £50K in the account we asked you to. Six weeks later. We're ever so grateful. Six weeks later. And thankyou for waiving the £20 'same-day' payment fee. For paying six weeks later. Oh, it was the same day, six weeks later.
Fingers crossed it takes another six weeks to recover the £50K from where we didn't ask for it to be put.
So the problem was the team who deal with mislaid payments diarised it when they couldn't find it. And when it came up again in their diaries and they couldn't find it again, they diarised it again. And when it came up again in their diaries and they couldn't find it again, they diarised it again. And when it came up next in their diaries and they couldn't find it again, they diarised it again. That's a whole lot of ... diarising.

Very dear LLWaz
Thank you for replying about Iceland. It sounds a wonderful place to go to. volcanos and geysers and ice !!. Marvellously healthy.
Your pics were suepr.
It must seem an age ago.
How is your nephew? Are you still in your old job. I think of Shewsbury and my two years spent there with such affction. I really loved it.
I have had a wonderful day sorting out all my writing which I have been doing ever since I got my computer in 2000. There is a lot of it. Now I must sort out what to do first.
Some of the events I had forgotten about. Surely our journals must be very heopful. I must try and diarise more things - lik ethe bank!!
With a great deal of affection.
