I think to say that if you are a Star Trek fan you will understand the humour is a bit patronising though. You don't have to be a genius to get the jokes.

Taking the piss out of Star Trek, and mainly the original series, not really sci-fi (or am I in too deep and see nuances that do not exist for 'non-sci-fi' gadgees?). I also agree with your second statement, and in the original article I said that being a Star Trek fan would help spot some of the gags (or at least I think I did) rather than you must be a ST:TOS fan to be able to understand it. I will raise the point with the sub-ed, though I am still waiting for a reply to my request to change the title, to get rid of the word 'movie' - damn Americanisms get everywhere I will go and chase the subbie again, and bring your comments to his attention Well, until later...

Well I, for one, thought this film was hilarious. I planned it so I could attend with a fellow star trek fan, and as we were in London at the time, had to pay double entrance fee to what we would have paid in Grimsby. The film was worth every penny. The moment the disgusting alien {about to kill the "Captain"} was transported, inside out and exploded on the transporter pad, was a moment I will never forget, my friend and I roared with laughter as well as the entire audience. The whole film was a delight, but that moment was magical. And if Sigourney Weaver and Alan Rickman don't receive "best-supporting actor" Oscars.....it's a damn shame. My friend and I walked out of there wanting to see the film again.....and again. I will definately be buying it on video, so I can share it with my grown-up kids. Yes it did take the p... out of Star Trek, but as a Star Trek fan, I wasn't offended, rather than being mocked, I thought we were being treated to a parody. I can now imagine the actors who played the long-gone parts, getting peed off at just being well-known for their one-famous role! The conventions I cannot comment upon, as I have never been to one, but I have heard what they are like! {And seen some pictures!}

I have to admit That I (halfheartedly) enjoyed Galaxy quest. Although I still hate Tim Allen. The effects were decent and so was the plot. The only gripe I have with it is that it suffered from a weak and quick ending.

A weak and quick ending, so not at all like Star Trek then

I just wanted to amend:

The thermians were not at all humanoid. They looked like walking squid. that's the only objection i have to the post. Other than that i should say my wife and i saw this move 3 times in the wame weekend at the theatre. Wonderfuly written. I even like the obivious voice-overs which can be seen in several places in the movie.

You mentioned the voice overs in "several" places in the movie. The only one I'm aware of is where Sigourney Weaver's character, seeing the "chompers" says "Screw that" audibly when clearly she's mouthing something ruder. What are the other instances?
