Is that a quote from somewhere, or is it yours? I like it.
(incidentally, someone official will show up soon to greet you and tell you stuff about h2g2)

Have you ever considered writing lyrics for heavy metal bands? I can just hear Pete Steele from Type O- singing that.

WhiteRabbit Posted May 12, 2000
I've never considered writing lyrics for a Metal group specifically, but I have considered writing lyrics (and dispite my total lack of musical talent I'm tryin' ta learn guitar..& to make things worse i got a 12-string..i found it in a pawnshop & as I'm a Leadbelly fan - he played a 12-string - i couldn't resist gettin' it..). I've never heard Type O-...are they any good?

Depends on your musical taste. Type O Negative is Loud, bass heavy, angry, goth/hardcore, and very hostile. Lyrics like "She's in love with herself, she likes the dark. On her milk white neck, the devils mark. It's all hallows eve, the moon is full. Will she trick or treat? I bet she will."(from the song BLACK#1) If you like Leadbelly, they might not be your thing.
But I know a bunch of musicians, and all of them started out not knowing anything. The trick is practice, practice, practice. Picking the brains and technique of any competent musician you run across. And if you learn to play on a twelve string, you're gonna be good when you get up to speed.

Donno..i might like them...i used to listen to alotta Metallica (they got soft if you ask me..but its kinda cool that they did that orchestral stuff..) & Nirvana..now i mostly listen to folk, blues, Grateful Dead, Beatles (i've always listened to them), & the like..but I still like to listen to heavier stuff when i'm in the mood...actually i've found that i really like Operation Ivy (ska)..anyway i'll look in to O-...
I have the guitar strung as a 6-string right now..i figure it might be alittle easier to learn 6 first...Do you play?

No, but my sister plays guitar, drums, and sings, and my dad is a rudimental drummer, and almost all of my friends play some instrument. At one point I had four roomates, each of whom was in a band. My livingroom was the eternal jam session. I write instead.

I can almost empathize..seems like all my freinds can play somethin'...writing is kinda hereditary for me, i guess...i started writing poetry in high school like my father..but i hope to make it a major in college..my dad majored in philosophy, at first at any rate....whatta you like to write?

Buff Posted May 12, 2000
Some poetry, short stories, song lyrics, anything really... There is a really bad example of my poetry in my journal, and a short story that I rather like as one of my entrys. I put it there for the h2g2 Fiction page, which you might want to take a look at. (there is a link to it in my pull down link list)

Reasearch paper eh... Job or school? I've got school. (well, college) I just finished my finals for this semester. I've got almost two weeks before I have to start studying anything again. Free time... Whatever shall I do with myself?
I stopped in at your story, and left a rather short comment. I liked it.
Bye now

Thought I'd stop by. It turns out that you can search for people on h2g2.
This is the odd guy you know from Pederson's.
I thought that the thing you wrote was very good.
I've seen better- but not many...
paper school
WhiteRabbit Posted May 18, 2000
Oh, joy! Oh, rapture! i'm finally finished with the damn thing! It was for school...it took forever..i was mistaken about the due date..it was actually due today...it was on Eliot's "Four Quartets"...i really love the poems...i think they're my favorite of Eliot's..do you read much Eliot?..I just hate having to try to write about poetry...i mean i love to work all of it out in my head and such, but when i comes to writing it down...something's always lost between my head and the pen (or keyboard)...but i'm done with it now...joy! thanks about my story..
