Ah the bane of every sentient being's (and most non-sentient beings') existence! The constant pursuit of maximum financial remuneration for minimum caloric expenditure; what a wonderful universe this would be if only The Second Law of Thermodynamics did not exist (although it might be a tad on the chilly side for my taste, but perhaps worth the sacrifice nonetheless).
We drudge away our little, singular modes of being, expending inordinate amounts of heat all for the simple goal of continued survival. Why? Why do we do this? Why do others insist that we do this? Certainly, they are no more enamored of the concept of enforced servitude than the rest of us; well some of the ARE, but they are obviously mutated beyond hope of procreation and will shortly be removed from the gene-pool, so at least future generations will be spared their scorn. Is it just for the illusion that can be purchased through surrounding ourselves with plush, comfy furniture, multi-gigadisk DVBVD players and tins of Pate d' Bartolockian Gigglebeast? Well, perhaps it is.
I wouldn't be adverse to the idea of making money, if only there weren't so much WORK involved! After all, is it not true that the more money one has, the less effort that is required to make even more? I shall have to submit this conundrum to the Great Optiplasmodic Contemplativisticator and see what spits out the little extrusion hole in the back; perhaps that will provide a direction for overcoming this dilemma.
Meanwhile, it's time for a coffee break...

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
