A week without chocolate

Post 1

IanG

Well I managed an entire week's teaching without chocolate. (I teach one week a month, and the place where I teach offers free chocolate for everyone. I usually find the urge for a sugar rush in the middle of the afternoon irresistable, but this week I managed to resist!)

The result? I'm now half a kilo heavier than I was at the start of the week. smiley - sadface I think I know why - there's also a free lunch. (Well, OK, no such thing, but it's not me paying, it's just a perk of the job.) It consists mostly of sandwiches. I have an unfortunate tendency to munch on these in breaks between lessons. smiley - sadface

Oh well, one step at a time - I've at least managed to get myself off the chocolate, and I've never managed that for more than one day before when teaching!

I'm working at home this week. Will this (a) make things easier because I'm out of temptation's way or (b) make things harder because there's a shop full of chocolates just on the corner? (Well, not literally full of chocolate...mmm...chocolate... *snaps out of it*) We shall see.

I'm off to spend half an hour on the exercise bike now! Call it a penance. smiley - smiley

Hmmmm.... are you sure youre not a secret woman?? mmmmm....CHOCOLATE!!! go on you know you want some!! You must repeat the mantra "Chocolate is good for you, chocolate IS good for you...." life's too short to abstain from self-indulgence!!
Ok Ok yep Im trying to abstain too and its very easy to succumb to the temptation. A year of studying in a college with chocolate machines outside every classroom (slight exaggeration there sorry!!) does not help a girl's diet I can tell you that

Oh yeah by the way Hi Im Roach as U kan C but hey C'est la vie (Im a poet and I didnt know it!!)

Hi! Well it's been suggested that my love of chocolate must be something hormonal, but I'm as certain as I can be that I'm not actually a woman!

Yes I already know I want some chocolate, thanks! smiley - winkeye Reminding me of the fact doesn't make it any easier...

I just eat chocolate more or less non-stop last time I had to revise, so I know what that can be like... I think it's partly a displacement activity - eating chocolate buys you valuable seconds of not-actually-revising time. I think the same principal applies at work too. smiley - bigeyes

Thanks! Virtual yum!

I like the 'brain' explanation. I think I'll use that as an excuse in the future. smiley - smiley

I had an article once from a magazine that listed all the pros of eating chocolate and how it contains more vitamins and stuff than most nutrition tablets!! It fell apart from over reading!!

Hows it going havew you succumbed to the greeneyed, 3paws-dripping-with-melted-unmetionable-treats, monster and eaten more than virtual chocolate??

by-the-way have a pack of virtual fun-sized mars-bars!! good (virtual) eating!!

Well if you look at my most recent journal you'll see that I succumbed through sheer absent mindedness.

I was also less than angelic in my abstinence today - I'm working for one week in a place where on Tuesdays they give away free cakes. It would have been rude not to. smiley - smiley I had an eclair...

I wish. Well, kind of. In retrospect I'm glad as otherwise my weight would be back on the way up again...

Mind you, I had an Oreo tonight. (A friend just got back from America and bought some with him, and I *really* like them...)
