How do I sharpen a Samurai Sword?

Hello,
I now own my first Samurai Sword and wanted to know how you sharpen one. The blade has been well kept and oiled, but is a bit dull. Do you know how to sharpen one effectively and properly?

If you want to do it the old fashioned way, use wet stones. Or, you can a buy a sword-sharpening kit, of which there are several varieties.

Thank you for your info. I am looking for a sword sharpening kit online, but no luck yet. Most sword shops I talk with say I need to bring in my sword to them for a professional sharpening at a inflated price of course. A sword sharpening kit should do the trick. Thanks for the tip and taking the time to reply.
