Cookies. Who would have thought that such innocuous little lumps of dough and sugar could mess up a sophistocated computer? Well, they can and do!! These cute looking pastries remember all the details that you freely offer to online companies (as well as being sweet, cookies have very long memories)and then regurgitate them into/onto aforementioned companies' servers.
Whilst playing around with my system, I disabled cookies (I suppose that this is the electronic equivalent of turning off the oven) and found that I was persona non gratis at quite a few of my favourite websites.
I had to re-enable cookies (turn the oven back on) in order for these insidious multi-nationals to continue to amass a vast database of information about me and my little pc.
Humpf! See if I care!
