my birthday is october the second, only a week ago hence the fact that I am nursing a mulilated mouth ( piercing not fight ) several million new books thanks to unimaginative but v. kind friends and an usual teapot thanks to darling but v. "eccentric" father

Hope things are better now and you're ready to start the new year with your new look, new confidence, new knowledge (or were they all non-fiction) and a good strong cuppa.
H2G2 has helped lots of people out of smaller and bigger depressions. It is somehow not quite like virtuality, everyone seems so real and honest.
