Vitamins are so called because the bloke who discovered them thought that they were amines - so called them "vital-amines". It is not true that the only time they kill you isw by choking, in fact high levels of vitamin A can kill, as in the bloke who ate nothing but carrots or if you eat a Polar bear liver.
