what about, turning sign post missleading maps, and hot sun?

The maps are not misleading by any means. You just need to know how to read a map. There are very few times that I have found a turned sign post in the four years that I have been to Philmont. The hot sun may be a problem but all that is needed to remedy that is a wide brimmed hat and drink tons of water.
