Don't ever let me have time on my hand again...

April 2, 2000...I am as caught-up as I am likely to be with schoolwork until the last day of the semester when I will be permanently caught-up on undergraduate work. I am not thinking of graduate school this week...no way...that would just be the proverbial...no...I am not going there.

Anyways...I should not have ventured onto to h2g2 with free time 'cause I have posted way too many comments here, there and everywehre and if even a couple are acted upon by other souls, I will be forever lost in the circle of post and counter-post and all my caught-up will go out the window. And I *still* have not finished my "Brush With Fame" article!

So...this is a disclaimer of sorts...if I don't get back here before next weekend...oh, who am I kidding...I'll be back here nightly. If only to watch what goes on in The Forum and Firkin smiley - smiley

I have *almost* got the regulars figured out. Now I just have to figure out what all the drink symbols stand for. Wouldn't want to order a smiley - ale when I really want a smiley - stiffdrink. smiley - smiley

I really am enjoying The Forum and Firkin. Makes me want to go to a real English pub smiley - smiley

smiley - ale Generally means a pint of beer. Two regular F&F tipples are Grumpfuttocks and Drumroll, Fuel and Health Warning are both *very* strong and can have seriously detremental effects on your ability to breathe.

smiley - stout Is a pint of Guinness. Usually followed by a |_| of Blackbush Whiskey if served for DD.

smiley - stiffdrink Is generally a TiaMaria and cola for Joanna.

smiley - empty Is often used for spirits in general.

|_| On its own is usually a soft drink but see above.

(_) Is usually a ginger ale for Ænder.

There may be some others but I can't think of them right now...hope this helps in your ordering policy smiley - smiley

Cool! Thank-you! I would never have figured out the smiley - stiffdrink. I thought it was something "on the rocks" smiley - smiley And I think I'll save Health Warning until semester end...in fact, maybe I'll toast my graduation in June with one of those smiley - smiley

I think the smiley - stiffdrink can be used as a generic 'something' with ice, and Menza has another squiggle he can put in for lemon or a straw or something but I can't find it on my keyboard smiley - sadface As for the Health Warning, I'd check back a few rounds to see the effects before you try any smiley - smiley Maybe this: http://www.h2g2.com/forumframe.cgi?forum=24306&thread=44946

That link brought me to the current thread, but I backtracked and found an incident in round 17 involving absinthe that is quite cautionary smiley - smiley So I guess I'll save that for after the next dinner with the in-laws (is there a way to make a groaning face?).

Yup...I know the frown face and it's the saddest frown I've ever seen. Makes me pout when I see it. I think it's Menza who has some very unusual emoticons on his page. Someday I'd like to do something like those, a smiley with a feather boa smiley - smiley
