My university server was upgraded/changed last week, which meant that it was off-line for a day or so. Ok, then everything was fine, with a beautiful new e-mail system. Next day, no e-mail, but I can still access/store my work on my p drive. This continues for a few days. Then yesterday my e-mail returns, but I can only receive messages, not send them. This morning I come in early to print out the 1000 word translation I've been working on, only to find that the whole server is down and I can only access public applications. ie I can't access all the work I've done. I now feel very frustrated as I'll have to print it out on the last minute tomorrow (provided my server is working tomorrow). Rant ended; I feel a bit better now.

*sympathy*
My browser fogot everything it ever knew about me on Saturday morning; my name, email, proxy settings, cache settings....
I have sympathy... got to the IT service and *demand* that they sort out a way for you to print *now* or you will curse them or something

Thanks. Luckily my server's back on-line now, so I've printed out my work and saved everything I think is important on disk. I'm just worried that it will keep crashing without warning.

I would have thought that the IT service would have lots of high-powered and important people on their backs if they don't sort the problem out soonish
