Buying lunch

My timetable today is slightly annoying, as it starts at 9 am and finishes at 4 pm but has loads of gaps in between. This means that I stay at UMIST all day, and therefore eat my lunch here. The question is whether I should buy my lunch here, or save my money by creating sandwiches at home before I come in (note: I leave the house at 8.25 am). Is it worth getting up earlier to save £1.50, and I'd probably supplement my home-made lunch with a bought chocolate bar anyway.

Do they still do sandwiches in the Douglas Bader Building (I think it
was called that..it was a few years ago)
I was introduced to paprika edged turkey roll there..and never looked back!

There was a seafood salad pita pocket I had a similar relationship with.
The solution to Veronica's dilemma depends on what she's putting in her sarnies.
a) Is it just as or more exciting than what she could buy at work?
b) Is the cost of the ingredients for a homemade sandwich going to eat any potential savings derived from not buying at work? Obviously the more exciting the homemade sandwich is, the more expensive its likely to be.

The price of sandwiches does differ between buildings. ie around £1.20 - £1.60 in the Renold Building and £1.60 to £1.90 in the Barnes Wallis Building. The advantage of buying stuff at uni is that I can have a different sandwich every day, whereas if I make homemade ones, they're inevitably all going to be ham and cheese, say, for the whole week/fortnight until I eat the whole pack of cheese.

Algorithms for sammies? Are we getting into bistromathics?
You could make ham & cheese interesting by adding mustard, oregano, dill, or by experimenting with different cheeses.
